Can foam boxes keep things warm? How long is the insulation period?
Release time:2021-12-21
A foam box is a box-shaped packaging container made of foam (porous plastic), the inside of which is a plastic foam with many tiny pores. Foam boxes are often used to transport fruit and package items. However, with the development of cold chain logistics, many consumers have found that the fresh food they ordered is also packaged in foam boxes, and many consumers are curious about this: Can foam boxes keep warm? How long is the insulation period?
EPS foam boxes are a good packaging material. EPS foam boxes can be used as buffer packaging for products such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, electronic instruments, precision instruments, glass products, ceramic products, and art products. Made from polystyrene resin as the base material, with foaming agents and other auxiliary materials added, EPS foam plastic is made through heating and foaming. The characteristics of this invention are light weight, low thermal conductivity, low water absorption, aging resistance, low temperature resistance, easy processing, low price, and good quality. The packaging is easy to recycle and reuse, making it an excellent green packaging material.
Experts say that foam boxes can maintain both low temperatures and insulation. The reason why foam boxes can keep warm is that the foam boxes themselves have poor heat transfer performance. Foam boxes contain a large amount of air, and the movement of air is extremely hindered. In addition, the "convective heat conduction" formed by the micropores in the foam box preventing air flow makes the insulation effect of the foam box excellent. The insulation time of the foam box depends on the thickness of the box, the amount of ice, and the number of insulation layers. If the volume of ice is equivalent to the volume of the insulation material, and the foam box is about 3cm thick, it will be enough for a day or two. Foam boxes can keep food fresh for a long time and prevent food from losing its original freshness during storage. However, to ensure good insulation, users should also understand the storage precautions:
1. The foam box contains flammable and volatile foaming agents. Avoid fire during storage.
2. The product storage place should be cool and well-ventilated. To prevent the foaming agent from dissipating too quickly and maintain a moderate expansion ratio, the storage temperature should be below 25℃, and ventilation should be maintained frequently.
3. Foam boxes should use first-in, first-out raw materials to maintain freshness and obtain stable operating conditions, ensuring excellent product performance.
